Beika City Hall in Beika City, Tokyo . . .
A press event has been scheduled at this location to announce the
launch of "Cocoon,"
a virtual reality game that promises to change the world! A
culmination of the world's most advanced
technologies, the game is named after its cocoon shaped capsule in
which participants enter a sleep
state and interface with a computer that very realistically recreates
historical experiences.
The world's attention is focesed on this event, and Conan is an
invited guest. Conan and the other
Young Detectives join the children of invited guests, summoned to
represent all sectors of society
including politics, finance, entertainment, etc., in boarding the
Cocoon to be the first to experience
this incredible new game.
Meanwhile, Mr. Kashimura, the man in charge of development for
"Cocoon," is murdered
at the press event. Simultaneously, the artifical brain, "Noah's Ark"
has secretly infiltrated
Cocoon's computer and blocks all external control of the system! The
50 children that boarded
Cocoon are now trapped inside and a game of fun has been transformed
into a game of life and death!
Inside Cocoon, the rules are announced . . . .
"The object is to solve a historical puzzle. . . . To win the
game, only one player need remain
alive. However, if all players fail to endure, then all will suffer
true death! "
A special guest at this event is the world renown mstery novelist,
Mr. Yusaku Kudo, Shinichi's
father. Yusaku is one of the few people aware of Conan's true
identity, and incidentally, was
responsible for approving the historical content for the Cocoon game
experience. As Yusaku
searches to uncover the mystery of Mr. Kashimura's murder, he can
only monitor the progress
of Conan and the others trapped inside Cocoon. All the while, Conan
and his friends find themselves
in London at the turn of the 19th century, where they experience
first hand the infamous serial killings
of Baker Street! Reality and phantasm interwine in this thriller that
holds 50 lives in the balance!
